SSP Back In Action This Saturday

Banks, Oregon- The 2013 season has so far been a wonderful year for Sunset Speedway Park. The Banks bullring has three straight weekends of action completed with the fourth on tap this Saturday May 11th. The Northwest Wingless Tour will visit for the first time this year while other classifications will consist of the Northwest Extreme Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, and Womens.
“It’s been a really smooth year so far,” commented Charlie Weaver, Race Director of Sunset Speedway Park, “John has been doing a great job preparing the track this season. We’ve had quite a few very competitive races too.
The Northwest Wingless Tour so far has had two races in 2013 both of have taken place at Cottage Grove Speedway. In those two features they have been won with drivers with the first name “Kyle”. Kyle Mehner won the opener on April 20th and Kyle Miller had a fantastic run last Saturday on May 4th. The NWWT will make SSP their home for the next few weeks as they have been added to the program on May 18th and will be back on the 25th.
Rick Graham won the first ever feature for the newly created Northwest Extreme Modifieds last Saturday night. Craig Loomis is looking for three wins in a row in Street Stock action after the division had the week off. Jason Blythe and Mike Mastrangelo have both managed wins in the two 4-Bee races of the year so far and Freya Smith has won both Womens races in the current campaign.
For Saturday’s action the front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
