Rose Festival Dirt Cup Next For SSP

Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park is getting ready for the annual Rose Festival Dirt Cup this Saturday June 1st. The night will have a full card of events and should bring another wonderful installment to the 2013 season. Classes in competition will include the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, Street Stocks, and the Womens division.
The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will have their fourth race of the year this Saturday. Greg Walters leads the win column so far this season with a total of two wins, both of which have occurred at SSP. Collen Winebarger is the only other winner in the organization with a victory he picked up down at the Cottage Grove Speedway in May.
The Northwest Extreme Modifieds have had two winners in the classifications first three races. Rick Graham won the first two but last week Rob Ireland dominated the field to become the newest winner. In the Womens division Freya Smith has won all four features so far this year and has put on a clinic in the classification.
The last two Street Stock races have produced some exciting late race passes with Marc Farrar and Brian Roden each earning wins. But after four races defending champion Craig Loomis has managed to win the most races with two visits to victory lane.
For Saturday’s action the front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
