Firecracker 100 Next For SSP

Banks, Oregon- Looking for somewhere to spend you Independence Day but not sure where to go? Look no further than Sunset Speedway Park on Thursday July 4th for the Firecracker 100. The night will feature some great racing from the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Bees. Once all the racing is complete the annual Fireworks spectacular will take place for everyone’s enjoyment.
The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series is coming off of a doubleheader last weekend at the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington. The series has had three different winners in seven races. Collen Winebarger has four victories over Greg Walters who has two. Defending Firecracker 100 winner Jerry Schram won the most recent event for the series which took place last Saturday night.
The IMCA Modifieds have yet to see a repeat winner in their classification. In four races there have been four different winners. Those winners include Kenny Miller, Jeremy Martin, Doug Lockwood, and Jesse Williamson.
In the Street Stock ranks Brian Roden now has the most wins this season after his victory last Saturday. Roden has won three times while defending champion Craig Loomis has earned two victories. Both John Ireland and Marc Farrar have visited the winner’s circle one time each.
Mike Mastrangelo leads the 4-Bee ranks when it comes to total wins earning three so far. Jason Blythe is twice a winner and the only other driver besides to win besides Mastrangelo to win more than once. Gary Meyer, John Oyler, and Travis Koch have all won once.
Front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
