Carrell Wins Dancin Bare Topless 100; Lee, Hoffsess, Bothwell, And Oyler Also Earn SSP Wins

Saturday July 20th would mark the returns of the Dancin Bare Topless 100 for the IMCA Modfieds at Sunset Speedway Park. Also in action for the evening were the Northwest Extreme Sprints, Midgets, 4-Bees, and Pure Stocks.
Taking the lead on lap twenty-five Redmond’s Mark Carrell would dominate the field to rest of the way in the Dancin Bare Topless 100. Carrell, in the Mark’s Autobody/Gray’s Automotive #27 GRT by Phillips, would leave just one other car on the lead lap to earn his first win at Sunset in 2013.
Ryan Bothwell visited victory lane for the first time this season in the Northwest Extreme Sprints. The Oregon City native would lead the entire distance in his BDR Racing/Schram Brothers Excavating #19 Avenger. Mitch Hoffses was back to his winning ways as he would win the Midget feature. For Hoffses, of Beaverton, it would mark his first win in the Midgets piloting his eBay Motors/Hoosier Tire Midwest/Ridgecrest Homes #5H Hawk.
Forest Grove driver Kendall Lee in the #66 entry was the victor in the Pure Stock ranks. It was the first race since the end of 2012 that the division was in action at SSP. Winning for the third time this year in the 4-Bee class was the #41 of John Oyler from Scappoose. The win ties him for the most victories this season in the class so far this campaign.
The Sunset Speedway Park will return to action next Saturday July 27th for Les Schwab Tires Night. Classes in competition will include the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, Midgets, and the Women’s division. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
