Championship Night This Saturday At SSP

Banks, Oregon- The final point race of the year will take place this Saturday September 21st at Sunset Speedway Park. Classes in competition include the Northwest Extreme Sprints, Street Stocks, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, Womens, and Midgets. Champions will be crowned when the night is over in all classes with the exception of the Midgets.
On Saturday front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.
Mitch Hoffses lead the Northwest Extreme Sprints in both points as well as wins. Hoffses has managed to visit victory lane on three occasions while Ryan Bothwell and Jake Gilman have each done so once.
Craig Loomis was the big winner last Saturday night. It would be his fifth win of the year which is the most any driver has accomplished in the current campaign. Brian Roden has won three times and John Ireland and Marc Farrar have done so twice. Tony Catalano is the only chauffeur with a single trip to the winner’s circle.
In the Northwest Extreme Modifieds Rick Graham has had his way with the division winning seven of the eight races in the books. Rob Ireland has been the only driver to have beaten Graham in main event action during the current campaign.
Freya Smith looks to cap her amazing year off with a win. Smith has earned nine victories this year in the Womens division and has only been beaten once. The driver to beat her was Gabrielle Hollinger earlier this season.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
