Joey Tanner Returns To NELMS For Saturday April 25th At SSP

Banks, Oregon- The 2015 Season Opener for the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series is just days away. On Saturday April 25th the motors will roar as some of the best Dirt Late Model drivers in the whole Pacific Northwest region will take on Sunset Speedway Park. One of the drivers participating in the event includes Joey Tanner from Portland.
“I'm excited to go to Banks,” Tanner would comment, “I love watching racing there and I can't thank Dave enough for letting me race Saturday.”
Joey will be behind the wheel of the All-In Property Investments/X-Factor Race Cars/Warpaint Motorsports Graphix #67 MasterSbilt owned by Dave Walters. In September of 2014 Tanner drove for Walters and put the machine in victory lane in the first night of action of championship weekend at the Central Washington State Fair Raceway in Yakima.
Tanner has not raced since September 20th last year at Willamette when he finished in fifth place in the Super Dirt Late Models. Instead of racing in 2015 he has been turning the wrenches for some of his friends. Those friends include Collen Winebarger, Trent Elliott, and Brian Cronk. After this weekend Joey will wrench for Dave Walters as well as his own father, Jody, while he awaits his own equipment to be finished getting fit for action.
“I'm excited to race after crewing for some of my friends,” he would say, “being on the sidelines makes it tough and makes you want to race even more.”
It will be the first time since August 6th, 2011 since Tanner has ventured to SSP in a Late Model. It was in his "open motor car" and he finished fourth in the main event. He has three career Northwest Extreme Late Model Series victories.
Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30. Tickets for this event are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
