Tony Catalano Will Not Defend Jim's Thriftway Open Street Stock National 100

Banks, Oregon- On Saturday July 11th Sunset Speedway Park will host the annual Jim's Thriftway Open Street Stock National 100. One of the driver's unfortunately not going to make is Forest Grove's Tony Catalano who is a two-time defending winner of this race. That will open the door for an opportunity for a new winner to emerge.
“This year has been a rough one because we rolled our primary car in qualifying a few weeks ago,” said Catalano, “I ended up borrowing a car from the Trout family but the motor recently blew up.”
Catalano got off to a fast start in 2015 winning on April 18th and and May 2nd. The DVC Machine/Duncan Automotive/Meyers Auto Body/Hair Designers of Forest Grove #19 team posted four top five finishes in eight starts. Amazing the car that he destroyed in time trials was the same car he ran for seventeen straight years.
“I've made every single Jim's 100 so it'll be hard for me not to be there,” he would continue, “but my daughter is getting married and I'm looking forward to rebuilding a new car for next year.”
Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30 each night. Tickets for both events are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
