Greg Walters Wins Seventh Doug Walters Classic

The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series paid their final visit to Sunset Speedway Park in 2015 on Saturday August 22nd for the 7th Annual Doug Walters Classic. The race is ran in honor of the late Doug Walters who was the former owner and operator of SSP as well as a major contributor to Dirt Late Model racing in the Pacific Northwest. The main event was sixty-seven laps in distance in tribute to Doug's longtime number he raced. Fourteen total Late Models would be in attendance representing the states of Oregon and Washington.
Steve Moore from Scio would get to the front in the first few laps in his Xtreme Motorsports/Bodies By Steve-O/Schram Brothers Excavating #21 MasterSbilt. But before too long Greg Walters, of Banks, would make the pass on Moore to get the coveted position. Walters, driving the T&G Trucking/Schram Brothers Excavating/American Landscaping/Duncan Automotive #97 Victory Circle , would have some pressure for a little bit by some challengers.
Keeping Walters in his sight was Vancouver, Washington's Jimmy Schram, in his Schram Brothers Excavating/Xtreme Motorsports/Bodies By Steve-O #113 MasterSbilt, would battle with Walters. After a late race caution it would set up a shootout with three laps left. Walters would hold off Schram on the restart to win his third race of the season. It also kept his perfect performance record, of seven wins, intact on the race ran in memory of his late father.
Jimmy Schram was second followed by the Schram Brothers Excavating/Bodies By Steve-O/Century III Stables #16 MasterSbilt driven by Jerry Schram, who is also from Vancouver, Washington, in third. Completing the top five finishing order would be Steve Moore in fourth and Gresham driver Jason Johnson, in fifth, chauffeuring the T&G Trucking/Jackhammer Trucking #76 Rayburn.
Jimmy Schram was fast time of the night as well as the trophy dash winner. Heat race winners were Jimmy and Jerry Schram.
The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series have two races left in the current campaign. The whole season comes down to two nights of racing at Central Washington State Fair Raceway in Yakima, Washington on Friday September 25th and Saturday the 26th.
