SSP Gears Up For Saturday July 16th Dancin Bare Topless 100

Banks, Oregon- After losing last week’s race to mother nature Sunset Speedway Park is excited to get back to racing on Saturday July 16th. Saturday will see the return of the Dancin Bare Topless 100 IMCA Modified event. Also racing will be Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and 4-Bee’s.
The Dancin Bare Topless 100 is one of the only topless IMCA Modified events in the entire Western United States. These drivers will pop off the rivets and remove the roofs for one night only. There are NO SIDEBOARDS allowed and it will be scored as a point race. One-hundred laps is the distance for the Modified feature and will be ran straight through with no planned fuel stops.
Last year Mark Carrell covered the most distance as the leader but would be passed on lap ninety-five by eventual winner Jesse Williamson. In 2014 Doug Lockwood would secure the lead on lap twenty-five only to experience an epic side-by-side battle with Greg Walters. Eventually Lockwood would prevail after Walters had mechanical issues, In 2013 Mark Carrell would dominate the one-hundred lap event leading from lap twenty-five on and lapping all cars except second place.
The 2012 event was a thriller with Mark Wauge and Robert Jenner battling in the final laps with Wauge securing the lead on lap ninety-four to hang on for the win. Greg Greer would win the first ever edition after passing Cody Jones on lap twenty-five to set the pace the rest of the distance.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, and Racing begins around 6:30. Adult tickets are $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children (5 and Under) are FREE. The Dancin Bare is a gentleman’s club located in the city of Portland at 8440 N Interstate Avenue. The facility features three large televisions, three stages, and features all of the popular lottery games. At Dancin Bear there is no dress code nor is there a cover charge.
