Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park would be quite busy on Saturday, August 6th. Not only would they host the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, and both classes of Micro Sprints but the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds would have a very special night. The IMCA Modifieds would compete in not one but two fifty-lap features which were dubbed the Twin 50’s presented by Schram Brothers Excavating.

In the first fifty-lap main event for the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, John Campos got to the front right off of the bat. Campos, who is from Keizer, walked away from the rest of the competition and dominated. It would be his first win of the season at SSP.

Kyle Yeack, of Lebanon, managed to finish in second followed by Matt Jenner, from Vancouver, Washington, in third. Portland’s Aaron Elwess crossed the stripe in fourth and Sean Gentry, out of Lafayette, completed the top five in fifth.

In the second main event, Sean Gentry was quick in the early stage. Gentry set the pace for the first fourteen laps before being overtaken by Kyle Yeack. Despite several yellows bunching up the field Yeack blazed the trail but towards the end received a fair amount of pressure. John Campos, who started in the back, mounted a challenge with just a few laps to go to try and get around Yeack but Yeack held on. It would be the second occasion that he has made an appearance in the winner’s circle.

John Campos was a respectable second followed by Oregon City’s Jeff Lovell in third. Bubba Foster, from Dayton, placed fourth and finishing fifth was Matt Jenner.

The Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks would see a familiar face return to victory lane. Arnie Case would put on a clinic in the feature. The Vancouver, Washington veteran had no issues at all and would collect his sixth win at SSP in 2016.

Sherwood’s Mark Farrar crossed the line in second while Joey Tardio, of Cornelius, placed third. Vancouver, Washington Don Jenner got fourth and Tony Catalano, of Forest Grove, finished fifth.

In the IMCA Sport Mods Mike Graham once again emerged triumphantly. Graham, who is from Portland, scored his third win of the season. John Henry of Hillsboro got second.

Jeff Broadwell would take care of business in the 600cc Micro Sprint Open feature. The Springfield driver had the field covered and would win for the second time in 2016. Casey Starr, from Sherwood, would end her night in second while Corbett’s Doug Pirtle completed the finishing order in third place.

Lane Taylor would show his dominance in the 600cc Micro Sprint Restricted main event. The McKenna, Washington youngster had no issues as he went on to win for the fourth time at the “Banks Bullring”.

Arlington, Washington’s Jesse Schlotfeldt was second and Dakota Drake, of Sumas, Washington, ended her evening in third. Bellingham, Washington’s Tyson Lemley got fourth and Casey Starr completed the top five in fifth.

Saturday, August 13th will be the next event at Sunset Speedway Park for the third annual Drivers Appreciation Night presented by 98.7 The Bull. This night will feature main events only but gives fans an opportunity to go down on the track and meet their favorite drivers. Classes in action include the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series/Super Late Models, Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, Dwarf Cars, 4-Bee’s, and both Micro Sprint divisions.

Pit Gates on Saturday will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30. Tickets for this event are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
