Lance Hallmark Wins WSS Finale; Rob Lindsey Series Champion

Banks, Oregon- Saturday, September 10th would be the final race of the inaugural season for the Wingless Sprint Series. Sunset Speedway Park would be the site of the last round and was the second time the WSS has been there. Eleven cars from Oregon and Washington would be in attendance at the “Banks Bullring”.
After a few delays in the early goings of the main event, the race would see Lindsay Barney get out to the front. The race would be incident free for the longest time as Barney, of Eagle Creek, kept her mount ahead of the competition. With just a handful of laps to go, she would be challenged late by Cottage Grove’s Colin Baker, driving for car owner Jake Gilman.
Lindsay Barney and Colin Baker would get together in turn two while battling for the lead and unfortunately, both would not be able to continue. Lance Hallmark would inherit the lead and managed to take care of business. A final late race caution shortly afterwards would set up a green-white-checkered scenario. The McMinnville native stayed in front of the rest of the field the rest of the way to win his second main event of 2016.
Sherwood’s Rob Lindsey was second followed by Portland veteran Tommy Moreno, in third. The rest of the top five consisted of Tim Alberding, of Salem, and Brad Rhodes, from Aloha, in fourth and fifth respectively.
Lance Hallmark was the fastest qualifier in time trials earlier in the night. Heat race winners were Hallmark and Tim Alberding while Rob Lindsey was victorious in the trophy dash. Once all the action had concluded Rob Lindsey was officially declared the champion of the Wingless Sprint Series.
