August 26th Doug Walters Classic Next For SSP

Banks, Oregon- After a week off for the annual Banks Barbecue Weekend Sunset Speedway is back to it for the 9th Annual Doug Walters Classic, which is also Maletis Night at the races, on Saturday, August 26th. This race is ran in honor of former owner and operator of SSP Doug Walters. The Late Models will race for 67 laps which also honors Walters' longtime number. Also in action is the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, and 4-Bees. The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds will race for 57 laps, 47 laps for the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, and the 4-Bees will go for 37 laps.
Greg Walters has had practically a perfect record of the race that is ran in his father's memory. Greg has won the Doug Walters Classic seven times while Joey Tanner managed to best the field last year. This is expected to be one of the best Dirt Late Model races in the Pacific Northwest.
The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds have had quite the busy 2017 season. Craig Cassell and Kenny Miller have both achieved two wins each while single race victors include Bubba Foster, Aaron Elwess, Jesse Williamson, John Campos, Clark Tenney, and Collen Winebarger.
In the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks Arnie Case is the only multi-feature winner with two trips to victory lane. Drivers with one triumph to their credit include Joey Tardio, Tony Catalano, Chris West, Kyle Yeack, Joey Tanner, Brad Gentry, and Craig Loomis. Jack Parshall and Rod Lowe are the two drivers to win non-point events.
Finally in the 4-Bees there are three drivers tied with the most ammount of victories this season. Ryan Conroy, John Gartner, and T.J. Wegner have all parked it in the winner's circle twice. One-time winners include Bob Berg, Travis Koch, and Corey Watts.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Time Trials begin at 5:30, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00.
