Tanner, Walters, Case, Lee, And Conroy Open Up SSP Doug Walters Classic With Friday Night Wins

Banks, Oregon- The opening night of the Doug Walters Classic would occur on Friday, August 24th. Five classes were in competition including Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 4-Bees. The race weekend is ran in honor of former Sunset Speedway Park owner/operator Doug Walters.
Joey Tanner, of Portland, bested the field in the Late Models to become the sixth different winner in as many races in 2018. Banks native Greg Walters, son of the late Doug Walters, took care of business in the IMCA Modifieds for his fourth win of the current campaign. Vancouver, Washington ace Arnie Case collected his thirteenth Street Stock triumph.
Forest Grove gasser Kendall Lee parked in the winner’s circle for his second Pure Stock victory of the year. Ryan Conroy returned to his winning ways as the Hillsboro driver won for the tenth time in the 4-Bee ranks.
Sunset Speedway Park returns to racing on Saturday, August 25th, for the second and final night of the 2018 Doug Walters Classic. The same five divisions from Friday will be in action. Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00.
