Banks, Oregon- For the past two years fans of Sunset Speedway Park have been treated to some great races courtesy of the Northwest Extreme Sprints. These Winged Sprint Cars have seen some upcoming talent in the state of Oregon not only racing on the ¼-mile clay oval but also making it to victory lane. In 2014 the class is slated to compete a total of six times.
In two seasons there have been two different champions each of them being under the age of twenty-five. Ariel Biggs was triumphant when the class debuted in 2012 at the “Banks Bullring” while Mitch Hoffses has been dominant ever since getting a crack at a full sized Sprint Car and would eventual win the 2013 crown.
Hoffses has scored four main event wins in eight main starts at SSP since 2012 with his worst finish being fourth. There have been a total of thirteen Northwest Extreme Sprint Car features with seven different winners. Mitch Hoffses leads the win list with his four wins while drivers that have a pair of victories each include Ricky Ashley, Ryan Bothwell, and Ariel Biggs. Drivers with just a single main event triumph include Jeff Westergard, Jake Gilman, and Sammy Wright.
Sunset Speedway Park enters the 2014 season with an action packed schedule that you do not want to miss out on. The first event of the season is a test and tune play day scheduled to take place on Saturday April 5th while the first race of the year will be held on the 19th.
